Ride that surge out on that river

No control whatsoever

You steer for the Vees
Avoid all the boilers
Keep free of the sweepers
And stroke for deeper water

But sometimes it seems
The effort is futile
You get caught in that killing machine
Go around and round in circles

You’ve got to know when
To head to the shore
When that river runs high
And you know what’s in store

This boat they call Strife
You do the best that you can
Avoid the hidden rocks,
At least that is the plan

The current it may take you
Unless you lean into that stroke
Unless you read that river right
May you long be afloat….
